It Is His Destiny!It has been one helluva year for Alberto Del Rio so far, hasn’t it? From winning the Royal Rumble to headlining WrestleMania 27 (despite it being the opening match), then winning the Raw briefcase at Money In The Bank, and finally becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion at SummerSlam. It wasn’t John Cena who walked out with the title, and it wasn’t CM Punk either. It was arguably the fastest rising superstar in WWE today…Alberrrrtoooooo Delllll Rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiooooooo!
I’ve been a fan of Del Rio ever since he made his debut on SmackDown! about a year ago. He had that certain spark that hardly any of the rookies know about. Del Rio is tenacious, speedy, athletic…but most of all he knows how to be a superstar. He dresses like an elitist, laces his voice with arrogance and pride, and carries himself like he owns every building he steps into. Some say he’s boring, others say he’s overrated. I say he’s extremely intelligent. He made the right friends backstage, focused on moving up the ladder as quickly as possible, and did so by working hard at his craft. It isn’t easy transitioning from being a masked luchador in Mexico to being a pro-wrestling superstar in the United States. Del Rio did it. He did it fast. And he did it with style.
To me, he deserves everything he has going for him right now. I get that some people are going ape-sh*t bonkers over the fact that CM Punk lost and is now stuck in an angle with Kevin Nash. I kinda hate it, too. But this isn’t the end of Punk. He started a chain-reaction that cannot be stopped anytime soon. The domino-effect, in his own words. He’ll be back up there with the title matches soon, trust me. But until then, we can be treated to something new in the form of Alberto Del Rio. I mean just look at the guy. He’s like the living, breathing definition of a James Bond villain. And knowing Del Rio, he isn’t going to make it easy forJohn Cena to take the WWE Championship off his waist.
I have one wish though. Change the damn belt! I’m sure lots of people like it, but I want something new. I want something that looks like the old Undisputed Championship. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
